South Brevard science fair:

Why it matters

Last year, science fair projects led to Brevard students winning more than $253,000 in cash awards, prizes and college scholarships at regional, state and international science fairs.

Edison science and engineering fair:

Samantha Prabakaran’s experiment was no small feat. She worked last summer with professors to analyze effects of endothelial progenitor cells on diabetics.

A mouth-full of a subject for an eighth grader, but one the Canterbury School student knows well.

Lake City Community College’s first regional Florida Science Olympiad:

Students from seven area schools competed in teams against one another in a number of different competitions. Topics for the competitions ranged from anatomy, chemistry and engineering to environmental chemistry and earth science. High school students competed in nine different competitions while the middle school students competed in eight competitions.
