Go have a BLAST!

Want to see what an adventure science can be, the good, the bad, and the ugly? Head on down to the Florida Film Festival at Regal Winter Park Village, 510 N Orlando Ave., Winter Park, Sunday March 29. There will be a screening of BLAST!

Do you think science is boring or lacks the thrills and chills of high adventure? You need to meet Dr. Mark Devlin and his project team of dedicated astrophysicists as they travel the globe, attempting to launch a “Balloon-borne Large-Aperture Sub-millimeter Telescope” into the upper atmosphere.  If the telescope can launch without incident and land safely after traveling to the edge of space, it promises to hold the answers to how the universe was created. On the flipside, if the telescope crashes and burns it will not only send years of hard work up in smoke, but also Devlin’s reputation will be in ashes. The stakes couldn’t be higher or the sacrifices greater for this team of scientific pioneers.

BLAST! is astrophysics Indiana Jones style, an adventure story that follows a tenacious team of astronomers from the Arctic to the Antarctic to launch a revolutionary new telescope on a NASA high-altitude balloon.  BLAST! appeals to a broad, general audience by focusing on the humanity of scientists with a dramatically, suspenseful story.
