Folks in South Florida are raising funds for their Darwin Day 2009 celebration event by hosting a raffle. They’re selling 250 raffle tickets for a chance to win a cruise to the Galapagos.

Selling tickets looks like a great way to raise some small cash. But you would think that these atheist and humanist folks would be better served by fabricating some transitional specimen that could generate big bucks.
I guess you got us beat there when it comes to fund-raising… all a minister has to do is point at the collection plate and your fellow sheep people will blindly empty their wallets. Makes for a sure way to get funds for remodeling the church steeple and using the difference to put a new chrome grill on the Escalade, or paying off the church secretary to keep quiet about the affair and putting his love child through college am I right?
I’m sure no one becomes an archeologist or biologist for da money…
