Political war on science

Fred Grimm from the Miami Herald has a good article about the very real and very scary Republican political war on science that’s worth a read. For Republican candidates, politics trump science.

[Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer] Carroll, in her fire-and-brimstone speech on Thursday, spoke disparagingly of how “some of our political leaders bow down to scientists and let them have the stage to push their evolution.” She made it plenty clear that the coming Republican revolution would no longer allow “the minority to poison the minds of the majority.”

Shocking words coming from our Lt. Governor. Bow down to scientists? Push our evolution? How about a letter writing campaign to the Governor’s office letting them know that we heard what she said in this speech and that we don’t like it.

That is shocking, you would think by now people would know the difference between science and humanist religions doctrine.

  3. Josh Krupnick says:

I think that the Lt. Governor should not try to “poison” the advancement of natural science with partisan politics. Contrary to her line of thinking, some of the young minds in Florida will eventually become the medical researchers and evolutionary biologists to develop new vaccines and rescue the public from real “poisons” – continually evolving novel strains of viruses and bacterial disease.
