NASA on Wednesday unveiled the first deep space photos taken by Hubble since its billion-dollar repair mission last spring. That work included installing two new cameras, other science instruments and replacing broken parts. Marvelous, stunning pictures that should put everyone in awe of the Universe. Â How ever, the article that accompanied the pictures contained comments that I felt, can (and will) be severely misconstrued.
Perhaps I am over reacting, but the thoughtless comment made by Hubble senior scientist Dave Leckrone, will, mark my words, be quote mined by any and all creationists
Leckrone stated “The images, especially the butterfly, don’t just show science, but can evoke a sense of spirituality. What I see is the grandeur of creation, HOWEVER IT GOT THERE.” Creation implies a creator, and the senior scientist working on the Hubble is implying that he (we) do not know how this event occurred? Very bad PR Dr Leckrone.
