It&#8217;s our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/sshome.html\">&#8220;Stick Science&#8221; cartoon contest<\/a>. The basic concept here is to draw a cartoon that educates the public about misconceptions the average person has about science (or for the 12-year-old and under folks, a cartoon about &#8220;why understanding science is important&#8221;). Make sure you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/ssrules.html\">check out the rules<\/a> before entering!<\/p>\n<p>The cool thing is that all entries must be drawn using stick figures. This is about creative ideas, not artistic ability.<\/p>\n<p>We have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/ssjudge.html\">panel of judges<\/a> standing by to pick out some winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ncseweb.org\/about\/speakers#scott\">Genie Scott<\/a>, Executive Director of the National Center for Science Education.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/badastronomy\/\">Phil Plait<\/a>, &#8220;Bad Astronomy&#8221; blogger at Discover magazine, and author whose latest book is <em>Death from the Skies!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/loom\/\">Carl Zimmer<\/a>, science writer whose articles regularly appear in the New York Times and Discover magazine, &#8220;The Loom&#8221; blogger at Discover magazine, and author whose latest book is <em>Microcosm: E. coli and the New Science of Life<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.charliesplayhouse.com\/about.html\">Kate Miller<\/a>, found of Charlie&#8217;s Playhouse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And our prizes! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/ssprizes.html\">Wow, have we got some good ones<\/a>.
