{"id":887,"date":"2009-02-03T17:09:48","date_gmt":"2009-02-03T22:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=887"},"modified":"2009-03-28T19:41:36","modified_gmt":"2009-03-28T23:41:36","slug":"education-commissioner-supports-replacing-11th-grade-science-fcat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=887","title":{"rendered":"Education Commissioner supports replacing 11th-grade science FCAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wish the Orlando Sentinel&#8217;s education blog would provide a little background concerning where they get their information. <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.orlandosentinel.com\/news_education_edblog\/2009\/02\/education-commissioner-supports-swapping-endofcourse-test-for-11thgrade-fcat-science-exam.html\">The blog reports that Education Commissioner Eric Smith <\/a>likes the idea of scrapping the 11th-grade science FCAT in favor of end-of-course tests. But the blog doesn&#8217;t say if this statement happened during a press conference or through a released statement or an interview or what. So, I don&#8217;t know what the overall context of this announcement is right now.<\/p>\n<p>It also should be noted that he mentioned biology as a first science subject to possibly get the end-of-course test. But once again, I don&#8217;t know if this was an intentional mention, or just off the cuff.
