Florida Southern College to Host Lectures about Religion, Science<\/a>:<\/p>\n

LAKELAND | Just a few days before the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birthday, an academic center at Florida Southern College will host a one-day meeting about the public conflict between science and religion.<\/p>\n

The meeting, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, will feature a series of lecturers speaking on the topic, “Religion and Science in an Age of Doubt: The Battle for Jane and John Q. Public.”<\/p>\n

The lectures will be held in the Hollis Room at Florida Southern and are free and open to the public.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speakers will be:<\/p>\n

John F. Haught, senior fellow for science and religion at Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

Paul Croce, professor of American cultural and intellectual history at Stetson University in DeLand<\/p>\n

Connie Bertka, former senior research associate at the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, D.C., and is now an independent author and lecturer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
