It should be noted the Kathryn served on the committee that wrote the state&#8217;s new science standards.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It pays to be a nerd,&#8221; she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>O.K., so leaving it at just that quote is unfair.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;She makes us think in different ways instead of just making us read a textbook,&#8221; said Casey Chitty, 11. &#8220;She&#8217;s hands on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alex Van Hulle, also 11, called Bylsma &#8220;funny&#8221; and said she makes learning fun.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Her knowledge of science is immeasurable, and her worth is immeasurable,&#8221; Principal BethBrown said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Pasco County teacher of the year, science teacher Kathryn Bylsma!
