Congratulations to Pasco County teacher of the year, science teacher Kathryn Bylsma<\/a>! It should be noted the Kathryn served on the committee that wrote the state’s new science standards.<\/p>\n

“It pays to be a nerd,” she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

O.K., so leaving it at just that quote is unfair.<\/p>\n

“She makes us think in different ways instead of just making us read a textbook,” said Casey Chitty, 11. “She’s hands on.”<\/p>\n

Alex Van Hulle, also 11, called Bylsma “funny” and said she makes learning fun.<\/p>\n
