With a greater understanding of the process, her hope is that scientists will one day be able to switch off the gene activity causing cancerous tumors and cardiovascular disease.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice that this research involves fruit flies. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciam.com\/blog\/60-second-science\/post.cfm?id=palin-takes-on-fruit-flies--and-los-2008-10-27\">I kid you not.
