Expect some online comments at the newspaper&#8217;s site, and future letters to the editor in response, though.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To date, despite the incredible lobbying and legal challenging of those creationists who have pushed for the teaching of some alternative to biologic evolution in public schools, no evidence has been uncovered that indicates the basics of Darwin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s theory are not factual. Quite the contrary, even the believers in so-called creation science or intelligent design have yet to come up with any significant evidence of a supernatural cause for the origin of species that can stand up to the standards of the scientific method, allowing the results to be published in established peer-reviewed scientific journals. All they continue to do is claim since everything about biologic evolution is not completely understood, the only alternative is some type of supernatural process must have done it.<\/p>\n<p>Misrepresentation of biologic evolution denies science students the basic level of scientific literacy necessary for them and our country to be able to compete in a more competitive world.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a nice guest commentary published in the Naples Daily News: The bicentennial of 2 great men: the emancipator and the evolutionist.
