{"id":827,"date":"2008-12-18T07:00:29","date_gmt":"2008-12-18T12:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=827"},"modified":"2009-01-31T10:09:41","modified_gmt":"2009-01-31T15:09:41","slug":"kids-experience-life-in-nw-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=827","title":{"rendered":"Kids experience &#8220;Life&#8221; in NW Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two-hundred Okaloosa County 7th graders got the chance to take <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wjhg.com\/home\/headlines\/36329264.html\">science class outdoors<\/a> thanks to a new program called &#8220;Life&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Department of Environmental Protection launched the concept to give students a hands-on experience with nature.<\/p>\n<p>The outside learning lab was a huge success.<\/p>\n<p>It was a perfect day for these seventh grade science students to experience nature at its fullest.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Environmental Protection&#8217;s new &#8220;Learning in Florida&#8217;s Environment&#8221; program gave 200 Destin and Richbourg Middle School students the chance to experience science in action at the Rocky Bayou State Park.<\/p>\n<p>Program organizer Greg Ira says, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the environment is such a really unique opportunity for students to take science concepts that they see in the book and actually see them first hand and not only see them integrate them.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To learn more about &#8220;Life&#8221;, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dep.state.fl.us\/secretary\/ed\/\">check out the website<\/a>.
