University of Florida research takes a look at the evolution of butterflies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

GAINESVILLE, Fla. \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Competition for resources can cause animal species in an ecological community to evolve away from each other, becoming less similar \u00e2\u20ac\u201d but University of Florida research shows that sometimes mutual benefit causes just the opposite.<\/p>\n

Case in point: South American butterflies that discourage predators by advertising the message \u00e2\u20ac\u0153we all taste bad\u00e2\u20ac\u009d via similar, conspicuous color patterns.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
