It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not a done deal yet as school board member Amy Kneessy makes clear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridatoday.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20060312\/NEWS01\/603120334\/1006\">Textbook debate still evolving<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Brevard County School Board member Amy Kneessy wants the school district to adopt a biology textbook that includes passages on divine creation and intelligent design, going against a district committee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s unanimous recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s so innocuous,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she said of the text. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153To me, those two paragraphs belong there.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>The school board is scheduled to vote Tuesday to adopt new elementary and secondary science textbooks, which were recommended by a committee of teachers, administrators and parents who spent months reviewing dozens of state-approved books.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But Kneessy said choosing curriculum and textbooks are among board members\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 top responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>She thinks the passages in question simply provide cultural context, integrating social studies and science without promoting alternatives to evolution.
