Professor Gizmo’s Science Spectacular Summer Camp<\/a><\/p>\n

Ten youngsters in grades two through five will spend a week in the community center at the United Church of Christ in New Smyrna Beach, learning that science can be fun, thanks to veteran teacher Dennis Humphrey, aka Professor Gizmo.<\/p>\n

Using what Gizmo assistant Dana Humphrey called “kitchen chemistry,” the pair, with the help of their son, Alex, work to plant a seed of interest through programs such as rocket day, the science of toys, states of matter day and chemistry day.<\/p>\n

When this 20-year science teacher isn’t emulating his hero, television celebrity Bill Nye the Science Guy, he shares his knowledge with students at New Smyrna Beach High School, where he also coaches the school’s robotics team.<\/p>\n
