{"id":646,"date":"2008-07-10T22:02:52","date_gmt":"2008-07-11T02:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=646"},"modified":"2008-08-30T10:45:11","modified_gmt":"2008-08-30T14:45:11","slug":"polk-county-get-together-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=646","title":{"rendered":"Polk County get-together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to all those who attended the Florida Citizens for Science informal &#8220;get together&#8221; in Lakeland this afternoon (July 10th)\u00c2\u00a0and in particular to Pete Dunkelberg\u00c2\u00a0and Kathy Savage who both travelled from Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Wolf (President of FCS) led the meeting in what turned out to be primarily\u00c2\u00a0concerned with\u00c2\u00a0the Academic Freedom issue and how best to be prepared if (and when)\u00c2\u00a0this canard raises it&#8217;s ugly head again in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>It was also decided that the Florida Citizens for Science would be represented at the &#8220;Florida Association of Science Teachers&#8221; Annual Conference in Orlando this coming October with two lectures.One featuring Debra Walker and the\u00c2\u00a0second, a Breakout meeting with myself (Jonathan Smith) and two other members.<\/p>\n<p>In all, a worth while meeting and nice to\u00c2\u00a0get together with\u00c2\u00a0great people who\u00c2\u00a0really care about science education in our State.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to all those who attended the Florida Citizens for Science informal &#8220;get together&#8221; in Lakeland this afternoon (July 10th)\u00c2\u00a0and in particular to Pete Dunkelberg\u00c2\u00a0and Kathy Savage who both travelled from Orlando.
