{"id":638,"date":"2008-07-05T12:31:55","date_gmt":"2008-07-05T16:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=638"},"modified":"2008-08-30T10:51:36","modified_gmt":"2008-08-30T14:51:36","slug":"former-state-science-director-sues-over-intelligent-design-e-mail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=638","title":{"rendered":"Former state science director sues over intelligent design e-mail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Christina Comer a former state science curriculum director\u00c2\u00a0who lost her job at the Texas Education Agency has sued the TEA and\u00c2\u00a0Education Commissioner Robert Scott,alleging she was illegally fired for forwarding an e-mail about a lecture critical of the movement to promote intelligent design in science classes.<\/p>\n<p>Comer said she lost her job for contravening an &#8220;unconstitutional&#8221; policy at the agency, which required employees to be neutral on the subject of creationism.The policy was in force, according to the suit, even though the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that teaching creationism as science in public schools is illegal.
