In the continuing saga of “and you thought we had it bad,” I present to you this NY Times article about evolution woes in Texas<\/a>. It looks like more board of education members there are vocal about the issue than our folks were here in Florida.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcStrengths and weaknesses\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 are regular words that have now been drafted into the rhetorical arsenal of creationists,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Kathy Miller, director of the Texas Freedom Network, a group that promotes religious freedom.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the state education board, Dr. Don McLeroy, a dentist in Central Texas, denies that the phrase \u00e2\u20ac\u0153is subterfuge for bringing in creationism.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why in the world would anybody not want to include weaknesses?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Dr. McLeroy said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is up with dentists? Sheesh! McLeroy’s question is answered later in the article:<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153When you consider evolution, there are certainly questions that have yet to be answered,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Mr. Fisher, science coordinator for the Lewisville Independent School District in North Texas.<\/p>\n
