\n5 Remove everything after the enacting clause and insert:

\n7 Section 1. Paragraph (u) is added to subsection (2) of
\n8 section 1003.42, Florida Statutes, to read:
\n9 1003.42 Required instruction.–
\n10 (2) Members of the instructional staff of the public
\n11 schools, subject to the rules of the State Board of Education
\n12 and the district school board,shall teach efficiently and
\n13 faithfully, using the books and materials required that meet the
\n14 highest standards for professionalism and historic accuracy,
\n15 following the prescribed courses of study, and employing
\n16 approved methods of instruction, the following:
\n17 (u) A thorough presentation and critical analysis of the
\n18 scientific theory of evolution.
\n19
\n20 The State Board of Education is encouraged to adopt standards
\n21 and pursue assessment of the requirements of this subsection.
\n22 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2008.
