This is a cute way to teach science<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Science boogied its way into the realm of “cool” Thursday for about 120 P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School seventh-graders.<\/p>\n

At least, that’s how the students described life science teacher Randy Hollinger’s efforts to have the entire grade act out cell division, better known by the students as the “mitosis dance,” on the school’s practice football field.<\/p>\n

“It was something we could relate to from the textbook that was actually fun,” said 12-year-old student Zachary Aaronson, who performed as part of the nucleus.<\/p>\n

“The best way for younger people to learn is to actively get them involved and engaged,” said Hollinger, a seventh-year teacher, whose lively classroom houses about 20 aquariums and cages filled with reptiles, birds and spiders.<\/p>\n
