Now the Palm Beach Post adds their voice to the blog world with their own education blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palmbeachpost.com\/blogs\/content\/shared-blogs\/palmbeach\/extracredit\/\">Extra Credit<\/a>. The writers promise to be all over the science standards story, too. As a matter of fact, there are already a couple of posts on the subject up, with one focusing on some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palmbeachpost.com\/blogs\/content\/shared-blogs\/palmbeach\/extracredit\/entries\/2008\/01\/04\/monkey_business.html\">positive support<\/a> for strong science:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s amazing that we might actually rise out of the Middle Ages,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Rep. Shelley Vana, ranking party member of the House K-12 education committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Lantana Democrat and former AP biology teacher said it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s impossible to teach her subject without touching on evolution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Palm Beach County School District superintendent Art Johnson said the real issue isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t evolution, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s whether alternative ideas such as intelligent design should be paid any attention.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s barely a debate worth having, Johnson said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The St. Petersburg education blog, The Gradebook, has been tracking the state science standards story in a very dedicated way.
