The bill would allow school districts to forgo the state academic standards if they want to adopt their own set of standards as long as they are as &#8220;rigorous&#8221; as the state&#8217;s. And if a school district develops their own science standards, they must adhere to this requirement: &#8220;Controversial theories and concepts shall be taught in a factual, objective, and balanced manner.&#8221; Of course, we know the &#8220;controversial theories&#8221; would be evolution and climate change.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2019\/00330\">Senate Bill 330<\/a> will need to be approved by these four senate committees:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Committees\/Show\/ED\">Education\u00c2\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Committees\/Show\/IT\">Innovation, Industry, and Technology<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Committees\/Show\/AP\">Appropriations<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Committees\/Show\/RC\">Rules<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow the links to each committee website to learn what senators serve on each.
