{"id":312,"date":"2007-11-07T07:14:51","date_gmt":"2007-11-07T11:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=312"},"modified":"2008-08-03T21:31:12","modified_gmt":"2008-08-04T01:31:12","slug":"first-public-forum-on-standards-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=312","title":{"rendered":"First public forum on standards tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first public forum where folks can comment in person on the new draft state science standards is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20071107\/NEWS01\/71107005\/1010\">tonight in Leon County<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Public meeting on science standards<br \/>\nResidents will be allowed to provide input from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the RA Gray Building, S. 500 Bronough St.<\/p>\n<p>Contact: (850) 245-6600.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t a clue where this sentence in the newspaper brief came from:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"bodytext\">Another first is the possibility of evolution and creationism being an official part of those science standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"bodytext\">That is a huge error in fact there. There is absolutely no possibility of creationism being an official part of the standards. There is a public tussle over the inclusion of evolution. But creationism is not an issue at all.
