{"id":302,"date":"2007-10-25T07:21:40","date_gmt":"2007-10-25T11:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=302"},"modified":"2008-08-05T19:39:51","modified_gmt":"2008-08-05T23:39:51","slug":"orlando-sentinel-let-there-be-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=302","title":{"rendered":"Orlando Sentinel: Let there be light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Columnist Mike Thomas of the Orlando Sentinel writes in today&#8217;s paper that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/news\/local\/orange\/orl-miket2507oct25,0,3076905.column?coll=orl_news_local_orange_util\">evolution is getting quite a bit of support<\/a> in the draft science standards.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We are moving toward intelligently designed science curriculum in public schools.<\/p>\n<p>And by that I mean we are leaving intelligent design out of classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>By golly, Florida is evolving.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education published the new standards on its Web site Friday. You can check them out and even comment on them at etc.usf.edu\/flstandards\/index.html.<\/p>\n<p>Of 1,400 respondents to date, more than 80 percent support evolution.<\/p>\n<p>Tappen welcomes alternative views.
