{"id":2281,"date":"2015-03-09T21:17:32","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T01:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=2281"},"modified":"2015-03-13T14:38:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T18:38:50","slug":"lets-cover-up-our-heads-in-the-florida-sand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=2281","title":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s &#8220;Cover Up&#8221; Our Heads in The Florida Sand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a report published in yesterdays <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/state\/florida\/article12983720.html\">(Sundays) Miami Herald Newspaper<\/a>, reporter<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> Tristam Korten<\/span><\/span> revealed that, on orders from governor Scott\u00c2\u00a0and his ilk, state officials are not permitted to use the terms \u00e2\u20ac\u0153global warming\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153climate change\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 in environmental reports or talks.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The term \u00e2\u20ac\u0153sea-level rise\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was also replaced with the\u00c2\u00a0term \u00e2\u20ac\u0153nuisance flooding.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Scott is a climate-change denialist. During his first campaign for governor in 2010, Scott told reporters who asked about his views on climate change that he had \u00e2\u20ac\u0153not been convinced,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and that he would need \u00e2\u20ac\u0153something more convincing than what I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve read.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d We should all be concerned with this &#8220;cover up&#8221; since climate change would and should be part of the 2016 revised Florida Science Standards.
