Science Sunday pretty much lost. But a few hardy souls chose sea cows over basketball and the show went on. There were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gainesville.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20070319\/LOCAL\/703190326\/-1\/news\">plenty of interesting facts<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The manatee has an endless conveyer belt of teeth, dense bones to keep it submerged and uses its body hair to feel around.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I fished around on Google for information on the guys who presented the talk. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manateebrain.org\/01external\/index.html\">I found an interesting site<\/a> about manatees and their brains\u00c2\u00a0using UF veterinary neuroscientist Roger Reep&#8217;s name. It&#8217;s interesting how smooth the manatee brain is compared to other brains. Also, here is a <a href=\"http:\/\/marinemammal.vetmed.ufl.edu\/\">Marine Mammal Health Program<\/a> site from the University of Florida, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/marinemammal.vetmed.ufl.edu\/manatee\/\">Manatee Research Group<\/a> page supervised by Reep.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately, a Science Sunday&#8217;s talk about manatees at the Florida Museum of Natural History faced stiff competition from NCAA basketball.
