It&#8217;s another article about the race for House District 17: <a href=\"http:\/\/staugustine.com\/news\/local-news\/2012-08-03\/renuart-facing-two-challengers-davis-and-kendall-re-election-bid\">Renuart facing two challengers, Davis and Kendall, in re-election bid<\/a>. Nothing really new here, but it&#8217;s worth reading for the it-would-be-funny-if-it-wasn&#8217;t-so-sad quotes from Kendall.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[Kendall] believes creationism should be allowed in science classes, though teaching the biblical version is now against state law.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We must allow students in science class to question whether evolution is the basis for the origin of life,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she told a Republican group earlier this year. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s called academic freedom.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Kendall also favors public funding of religious and private schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Public money going to religious schools is money well-spent,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think we should be supporting schools that are not based on our Judeo-Christian heritage.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>She told The Record editorial board that she would not favor public funding of Islamic religious schools.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even though a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1614\"> previous article<\/a> had revealed that all of the candidates support creationism, this article only highlights Kendall&#8217;s views on the issue for some unknown reason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been without Internet for a few days and so haven&#8217;t been able to get this update posted.
