{"id":1539,"date":"2012-05-08T20:00:38","date_gmt":"2012-05-09T00:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1539"},"modified":"2012-05-08T20:00:38","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T00:00:38","slug":"upcoming-stuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=1539","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming stuff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you keeping score at home, we have a few interesting Florida science-related issues coming up this week.<\/p>\n<p>First, the Florida Board of Education on Thursday will consider the Education Commissioner&#8217;s recommendation to put a band-aid on the state&#8217;s current science standards and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1537\">possibly adopt the National Science Standards<\/a> down the road.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Thursday, the NAEP (The Nation&#8217;s Report Card) will release its <a href=\"http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/nationsreportcard\/science_2011.asp\">8th grade science assessment results<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And then on Friday, a draft of the National Science Standards, which the Florida Education Commissioner is recommending the state consider adopting, will be released for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nextgenscience.org\/\">public review and comment<\/a>. They will be online for public comment for three weeks, until June 1.<\/p>\n<p>Yup, it&#8217;s a busy week!
