{"id":1220,"date":"2010-08-25T15:25:35","date_gmt":"2010-08-25T19:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1220"},"modified":"2010-08-25T15:25:35","modified_gmt":"2010-08-25T19:25:35","slug":"school-board-election-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=1220","title":{"rendered":"School board election results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you who are curious about what happened to the known creationists running for school board seats across Florida, here&#8217;s what we know so far.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll let commenter Pierce Butler tell us about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1216\">Alachua County<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The good news is that pro-science candidate Gunnar Paulson picked up a clean win on 8\/24.<\/p>\n<p>The other two school district races went into run-off, which means they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be decided in November along with the general election. More good news: the District 5 finalists are Jancie Vinson &amp; Carol Oyenarte, both of whom seem to be members of the reality-based community.<\/p>\n<p>More problematic is the District 1 runoff between Rick Nesbit and April Griffin. Nesbit is the white hat here, but he only garnered 32.7%, while Griffin won 39.1% and the other pro-creationists took 28.3%.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1215\">Seminole County<\/a>, Paul Ackerman was defeated while Becky Erwin goes into a runoff.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1214\">Pasco County<\/a>, John Tracy was defeated, while Mike Ryan goes into a runoff.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1209\">Palm Beach County<\/a>, Ron Young was defeated.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1202\">Polk County<\/a>, Terry Pittman was defeated.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1196\">Hillsborough County<\/a>, it looks like Terry Kemple was defeated, but I have yet to see any official final results posted.<\/p>\n<p>Let me know if I missed anything, please.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you who are curious about what happened to the known creationists running for school board seats across Florida, here&#8217;s what we know so far.
