{"id":1205,"date":"2010-07-20T16:19:13","date_gmt":"2010-07-20T20:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2010-07-20T17:34:46","modified_gmt":"2010-07-20T21:34:46","slug":"opening-salvo-from-the-discovery-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=1205","title":{"rendered":"Opening Salvo from the Discovery Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why should we not be surprised\u00c2\u00a0to see the\u00c2\u00a0(first of many) criticisms of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www7.nationalacademies.org\/bose\/standards_framework_public_draft_cover_letter.html\">National Science Standards<\/a>?\u00c2\u00a0Number one\u00c2\u00a0to jump on the band wagon, our old friend Casey Luskin\u00c2\u00a0at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discovery.org\/\">Discovery Institute<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0who calls the inclusion of evolution, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.evolutionnews.org\/2010\/07\/nass_draft_framework_for_scien036811.html\">dogmatic and inaccurate<\/a>&#8220;.\u00c2\u00a0He also throws out the old &#8220;critical thinking&#8221; canard.\u00c2\u00a0Quoting Jonathan Osbourne, Luskin\u00c2\u00a0suggests students should learn about evidence that does not support any scientific theory, including evolution. I agree.
