{"id":1087,"date":"2009-07-09T16:26:17","date_gmt":"2009-07-09T20:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flascience.org\/wp\/?p=1087"},"modified":"2009-07-09T16:26:17","modified_gmt":"2009-07-09T20:26:17","slug":"yet-another-depressing-survey-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flascience.org\/?p=1087","title":{"rendered":"Yet another depressing survey study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pew Research Center folks recently <a href=\"http:\/\/people-press.org\/report\/528\/\">released a study <\/a>that examines perceptions of science and scientists in America. <a href=\"http:\/\/people-press.org\/report\/?pageid=1550\">Section 5<\/a> addresses the hot topics of\u00c2\u00a0evolution and climate change. Nothing new here, of course.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nearly all scientists (97%) say humans and other living things have evolved over time \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 87% say evolution is due to natural processes, such as natural selection. The dominant position among scientists \u00e2\u20ac\u201c that living things have evolved due to natural processes \u00e2\u20ac\u201c is shared by only about third (32%) of the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the overwhelming agreement among scientists about evolution and climate change, substantial minorities of Americans think there is no scientific consensus on these issues. While a 60% majority of the public says that scientists generally agree that humans have evolved over time, nearly three-in-ten (28%) say that scientists do not generally agree.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pew Research Center folks recently released a study that examines perceptions of science and scientists in America.
