The University of Central Florida’s Biology Department is hosting a series of lectures about evolution leading up to the 150th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.
Leading off the series was Jerry Coyne, Ph.D., a professor from the University of Chicago who has spent 25 years researching speciation, the division of one species into two. The Harris Engineering Center’s auditorium provided the forum for his lecture “Intelligent Design Versus Evolution.”
The article says that the crowd was standing room only and very receptive to the lecture! Outstanding! Next up:
A second event is scheduled for Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. with Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, who will give the lecture “Florida’s Academic Freedom Bills: Creationism du jour?”

Ms Scott and the NCSE has been great friends and allies to the FCS and I for one will be attending.I would like to see FCS members supporting this event.
If I were anywhere near Orlando, I’d certainly go to meet Scott. Alas, I’ll have to pass this one up.
