Schools are hurting!

Budget cuts at schools across Florida are ugly! I just saw this tidbit from Broward County: “Some schools had already eliminated science lab classes in a round of budget cuts last year.” What the hell?!?!

Florida virtual STEM job fair

From the Sentinel School Zone blog: “Florida middle and high school students can “attend” a virtual career fair on STEM jobs on Wednesday. The first-ever event, according to the FL DOE, is a chance for students interested in science, technology, engineering and math to learn about those fields from professionals.”

I won an award, and so did Florida Citizens for Science … sort of. Kinda cool that I/we are alongside some other notable names.

The more serious and meaningful award Joe Wolf and I received is courtesy of NCSE. And once again, it’s an honor to be named among the other awesome recipients there.
