No, that’s not a Kansas joke. Oldest fossilized brain ever is uncovered in Kansas:
The fossil was from an iniopterygian, an ancient extinct fish that is a relative of sharks, rays and ratfish. What surprised researchers even further is that it showed a brain similar to that of modern-day shark.
Given the history of the ID movement in Kansas, that headline, when not taken quite in context, is actually pretty funny!

Kansas also has a Science Cafe which has been drawing (on average) 54.2 folks per evening.
This, in a town of 20,000 out in the middle of nowhere, halfway between Denver and Kansas City. (By the same reckoning, Orlando’s Science Cafe would bring in about 504 people per evening.)
This, in the district which voted Connie Morris – KS version of Ronda Storms – onto and off of the state school board.
Not quite *all* of the brains out here are fossilized . . . 🙂
