Good news! Now two in favor.

Thank you, state board of education member Akshay Desai! The Gradebook reports that Desai joins fellow board member Roberto Martinez in supporting evolution in the new draft of the state science standards.

“I do support evolution. There’s not a question about that at all.”

This is wonderful news! I was just writing a letter to Dr. Desai appealing to him as a man of medicine, and this makes it a lot easier. I do want to make sure that he doesn’t buy the “several other theories” Discovery Institute bunk. I already wrote a letter supporting Mr. Martinez, and he wrote back thanking me.

By way of quick introduction, I’m an instructor at Harvard Medical School researching molecular biology and a science adviser for the Clergy Letter Project. I have been pushing the petition among my friends and several have signed. Good luck, you have many people watching with great concern and pushing for you!
